YOUTH EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE


VISION

The vision of the QMS Youth Empowerment Initiative is to inspire, educate, and empower young talent to make positive decisions that will have a transformational effect on their personal lives and future careers.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

 

Our mission is to galvanize youth to recognize that with a clear vision, determination, fortitude and excellence they can achieve their dreams and goals.

 

WHY ARE SOFT SKILLS IMPORTANT

 

Soft skills also known as life skills are what make a person unique from another.  Soft skills complement hard skills and enhance personal relationships, school/job performance and career prospects.

 

 

THE CHALLENGES

 

Many young people are faced with various soft skills challenges which are detrimental to their current and future success.  These challenges include:

  • Lack of a personal vision;
  • Lack of a success mindset;
  • Poor value system;
  • Lack of self-drive, enthusiasm and motivation for work;
  • Procrastination;
  • Poor communication; and
  • Lack of reflection on personal strengths and weaknesses and how these can affect performance.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

The objective of the soft skills training is to motivate youth into aspiring for excellence in their personal lives, school and as they prepare to move into the work space.  The training will enable participants to:

  • Get clarity of purpose – clear vision.
  • Develop goal focus.
  • Self-motivate with a positive mental attitude.
  • Strive for excellence.
  • Create a positive and productive atmosphere.
  • Improve communication.
  • Develop leadership skills.
  • Develop a personal code of conduct

 

TRAINING MODULES

 

Below are the training modules that QMS offers.

MODULE 1: DEVELOPING PERSONAL VISION

 

This module guides trainees in developing a personal vision statement, creating goals and finding their purpose. The vision development will enable participants to focus so that other people’s agenda’s do not take precedence.

This module answers:

  • What is a personal vision statement.
  • Why a personal vision statement.
  • Reasons why one struggles with vision.
  • Elements to explore for personal vision.
  • Goal setting
  • Finding purpose

 

Duration: ½ Day

 

MODULE 2: SUCCESS AND MINDSET

 

Success can be elusive. Our journey to success can be filled with wishful thinking and shattered dreams. Our attitude defines the quality of our life and is the architect our successes and failures.

 

This module addresses:

  • The success mindset.
  • Factors to developing your success mindset.
  • Positive attitude and Positive Thinking

 

Duration: ½ day

 

MODULE 3: VALUES

 

Values have major influence on a person’s behavior and attitude and serve as far-reaching guidelines in all situations.  The QMS training programme addresses the following values:

  • Commitment
  • Relationships
  • Character
  • Forgiveness
  • Courage
  • Initiative
  • Priorities
  • Teachability
  • Self-discipline
  • Influence

Duration: ½ day

MODULE 4: CONFIDENCE BUILDING AND SELF ESTEEM

 

Confidence is built on choices and accomplishments that feed one’s passion, and that make one feel happy and proud of who they are. Discovering these things is one of the most worthwhile pursuits of life. In building confidence, QMS focuses on:

Definition and meaning.

Importance of confidence

Ways to build confidence.

Improving self-esteem.

Body Language.

Dealing with criticism.

Assertiveness

Reacting to failure.

 

Duration: ½ day

 

MODULE 5: ACHIEVING AND MAXIMIZING POTENTIAL

 

To achieve potential one needs to develop a sense of what they naturally like so that they can focus on areas that correspond with their innate interests, nature, and strengths.

QMS addresses:

  • Hindrances to achieving and maximizing potential.
  • Excellence
  • Developing perseverance/resilience.
  • Building Determination
  • Fighting complacency.

 

Duration: ½ day

 

MODULE 6: LEADERSHIP

 

Leadership training enables trainees identify their problematic areas and overcome them effectively.  This module covers:

 

  • Qualities of a good leader.
  • Emotional intelligence

 

Duration: ¼ day

 

 

MODULE 7: CRITICAL THINKING

 

Critical thinking is ability to analyze information objectively, assess different perspectives, and reach logical conclusions without being influenced by emotion or personal biases. By using these skills, trainees will be able to weigh the pros on cons of different options and make informed decisions.

MODULE 8: BUSINESS ETIQUETTE

 

Knowing how to treat other people well is very important in the workplace.  Who you are shows in how you behave and in how you appear to others. Soft skills are critical for career development in the workplace. Areas of training include:

  • What is business etiquette and basics of etiquette.
  • Personal responsibility
  • Good work habits
  • Procrastination
  • Time management
  • Developing professional presence.
  • Integrity
  • Teamwork
  • Body Language
  • Building better communication skills

 

Duration: 1½ days
