Building Self-Confidence to Start Your Entrepreneurial Journey

June 2, 2026

As we begin the sixth month of the year, June offers us an opportunity to reflect, reset, and take action toward our dreams. For many young people, great ideas, talents, and passions remain hidden because of one major obstacle—lack of self-confidence.

Many people believe entrepreneurship is only for the bold, the wealthy, or the highly experienced. Yet every successful entrepreneur started somewhere. The difference is that they chose to take the first step.

Recently, I had the opportunity to encourage a young lady at church who was actively searching for employment. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking a job, I challenged her to consider another possibility: discovering her passion and exploring how it could become a business opportunity.

The journey to entrepreneurship begins with understanding yourself. What are you naturally good at? What problems do you enjoy solving? What value can you offer to others? The answers to these questions often reveal opportunities that can be transformed into sustainable businesses.

Confidence is not something we are born with—it is something we develop. It grows every time we learn a new skill, speak to a potential client, test an idea, or overcome a challenge. Confidence is built through action.

The entrepreneurial mindset requires us to move from asking, “Can I really do this?” to asking, “What if I tried?”

Start small. Observe the needs around you. Ask questions. Learn from others. Volunteer. Practice your idea. Network with people who inspire you. Each small step builds the confidence needed for bigger opportunities.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. You only need the courage to take the first step and the determination to keep moving forward.

As we step into June, I encourage you to dare to venture out. Meet new people. Attend networking events. Share your ideas. Build relationships with people who may one day become your clients, partners, mentors, or supporters.

Believe in your abilities. Believe in your vision. Believe that your passion can become a solution for others and a source of income for you.

This June, choose confidence over fear, action over hesitation, and possibility over doubt.

Your entrepreneurial journey starts with one simple decision: believing that you can.
